Denver Broncos Offseason Needs

The Denver Broncos are probably one of the biggest disappointments in the National Football League (NFL) after their 2017 season. The Broncos finished 5-11 and one of their worst seasons since the Josh McDaniels’ era. Obviously, the Broncos are known for their winning culture. So this offseason, the Broncos are going to look to get back in the right direction.

  1. Find a Quarterback who can play.

This past season, the Broncos couldn’t stay consistent with their quarterbacks. They had three different quarterbacks this past season (Trever Siemian, Brock Osweiler, and Paxton Lynch). Coming into the offseason, the Broncos have many go-to options. They can go and sign a QB, or trade for one, who has experience and possibly keep one of the guys we have now or they can draft a QB and try to sign a guy that is a veteran but for cheap (Like Josh McCown). If I was John Elway, I would try to sign Kirk Cousins and keep Paxton Lynch to be the back-up. Kirk Cousins will have Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas receiving for him. With those wide receivers, Cousins could easily become a Top Ten QB.

      2. Get an Offensive Line.

For the last few years, the Broncos easily have the worst offensive line in the NFL. In 2016, the Broncos signed Russell Okung hoping that our offensive line would get better. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. Coming into the 2017 season, the Broncos drafted Garett Bolles thinking he was going to be the next Ryan Clady. Again, we were wrong. It seemed like every play, Trevor Siemian/Brock Osweiler/Paxton Lynch was getting hit. It was getting very annoying. Going into the offseason, this is a big need. The player we need to sign is Nate Solder. Solder is a veteran that can be a huge addition to our very young offensive line.

       3. Trade away a big name.

The Broncos need to trade away a big name player to make room for Kirk Cousins (if we sign him). The player I would trade away is Aqib Talib. Aqib Talib is no longer the Aqib Talib we saw in 2015. I think Bradley Roby is ready to become No. 2 cornerback. The Broncos should trade Aqib Talib to the Cleveland Browns for Joe Thomas. The Browns need a cornerback while the Broncos need a veteran offensive lineman.

If the Broncos do all of these things, we should at least be wild-card contenders.
